TEA Dyslexia: A TEA Professional Learning course is a free dyslexia professional learning course designed for all school and district staff members across the state who serve students in kindergarten through grade 12. This course meets the requirements for Texas Education Code (TEC) §21.054(b), which states, an educator who teaches students with dyslexia must include training regarding new research and practices in educating students with dyslexia. It is also used to meet the educator preparation program requirements under Texas Administrative Code (TAC) §228.57 and TEC, §21.044.
Course Modules:
- Module 1: Learn more about what dyslexia is and how it impacts student learning.
- Module 2: Explore effective schoolwide practices for the identification and support of students with dyslexia.
- Module 3: Learn more about how to support students with dyslexia in the classroom through systematic, explicit, and evidence-based instruction designed to meet the needs of students with dyslexia.
- Module 4: Reflect on your learning, create a personal action plan, and review resources.
