TEKS Behavior Alignment Resource Collection

Instruction

A centralized set of tools and companion guides designed to support the alignment of behavioral supports with Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). This collection assists administrators, educators, and ARD committees in making data-informed decisions that promote positive student outcomes, particularly for students with disabilities. Resources are designed to strengthen the link between academic expectations and behavior supports across instructional settings.

The Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) Behavior Alignment Tool Resource Collection offers a comprehensive suite of resources to help schools intentionally align behavior supports with TEKS-based instruction. The collection includes the alignment tool along with companion guides tailored for administrators, educators, and ARD committee members to support collaborative, data-driven decision-making. These resources are designed to enhance the development and implementation of effective behavior supports, including connections to IEPs, FBAs, and BIPs. Additionally, it supports teams in identifying gaps, strengthening systems, and ensuring that students have access to both rigorous instruction and meaningful behavioral supports.

The TEKS Behavior Alignment Tool includes standards from the TEKS that reflect behavior-related components, specially observable student actions, self-management or self-regulation, social communication and interactions, and impulse control or decision making. TEKS that focus solely on content knowledge without these elements are excluded from the tool to ensure all standards meaningfully align with behavioral expectations and supports.
