Educational Sign Language Interpreter Mentor Project

The Educational Sign Language Interpreter Mentor Project is a free, virtual program offered each year from October through May with the intention of helping pre-certified sign language interpreters gain certification. To participate, applicants must be currently employed in a K–12 educational setting in Texas and working with students who are deaf or hard or hearing (DHH). Participants must meet the qualifications to become a sign language interpreter in the state of Texas. The program requires a weekly commitment of approximately 1–2 hours, including virtual meetings with an experienced mentor and independent interpreting practice assignments. Participants will need access to a device and reliable internet to complete all program activities. To apply, please submit your application by July 10, 2026.
