(upbeat music) - I am Kayla Westbrook. I am the PPCD/ECSE teacher for Needville Elementary. This will be my fourth year. So the grant provided coaching and it provided resources and we were able to get things for our classroom that we probably would not have gotten otherwise.
Last year, whenever I found out we were gonna have coaching weekly, to be honest, I was a little nervous and apprehensive at first. I thought, you know, I would stay up all night trying to make everything perfect for them whenever they'd come in. And I wanted to be perfect and I wanted my classroom to be perfect. So I really switched my mindset from that, like thinking instead of using it as them critiquing me and just trying to pinpoint little things.
I really just used it to make myself better. And they were really there to help you and your students. They weren't just coming in as like the top dogs or something, you know, looking to just find whatever they could to write down on a piece of paper. But they were really personable and wanted to come alongside you to help you grow what you were struggling with.
And it was the best thing that I could have ever had in my teaching career. I really grew a lot as a teacher this past year. It was great, I loved it. (upbeat music)
